ASTELE™ 133.5 OTA LOMO Telescope Ground Product Info

Galileo never had it so good! His best telescope couldimage manage only 30x magnification. If he had but one of these fine 5 1/2" Maksutov Cassegrain (Rumak design) instruments, the entire concept of the universe would have changed in his lifetime.

The "8mm advantage" of the ASTELE™ 133.5 OTA (Optical Tube Assembly) over 125 mm aperture telescopes translates into more "light grasp" for better images of deep space objects. When conditions are good, you may observe all 110 objects in the Messier Catalog with the ASTELE™133.5 Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope. Planetary viewing is superb, with breath-taking views of the sharply defined Cassini division in Saturn's rings. The edge-to-edge superior performance of the primary mirror is a direct result of superior technology and extreme care in final polish by the skilled LOMO PLC craftsmen and women who proudly craft ASTELE™ telescopes in St. Petersburg,Russia.

Mount the ASTELE™ 133.5 Maksutov-Cassegrain on your own tripod with the standard 1/4"-20 screw socket, or select the ASTELE™ 133.5 G with a German Equatorial Mount, slow motion controls, setting circles and tripod. If you require all the features of the "G" with added electric clock drive, opt for the ASTELE™ 133.5 EL

Because larger mirrors mean more light-gathering capability, the extra 8mm over 125mm designs provides superior performance for "pulling-in" faint objects and allows a higher degree of magnification with less loss of resolution. The 5.25" Maksutov Cassegrainoptical design achieves theoretical limits of resolution with perfectly figured mirrors and multi-coated, diffraction-limited optics for superb images. Color rendition is virtually apochromatic - without flaw.

A standard 25mm 1.25" O.D. eyepiece comes with the unit to provide 53x magnification. We suggest adding a 10mm Plossl to increase magnification to 134x when appropriate. The OTA package also includes a 1.25" 90° star diagonal and 8x 40mm findertelescope.

To convert the ASTELE™ 133.5 into a powerful terrestrial spotting scope, you may wish to add the optional 45° erectingprism. Images will appear oriented just as you seem them in life. In spotting mode, the 133.5, with a 10mm eyepiece, can make a human figure one block away appear as though it were only four feet from you! An eagle 1/2 mile away appears as though it were less than 20 feetdistant.

By adding our camera adapter option, you can make high magnification, high-resolution photographs of wildlife or enjoy hours of pleasure as anastrophotographer. For special pricing on accessories when purchasing this telescope, emailcustomercare@opticsplanet.com

The ASTELE™ 133.5 is also available with German Equatorial Mount as the ASTELE™ 133.5 G, or with fork mount and motor drive as the ASTELE™ 133.5 EL (currently out of stock).

A free dew shield/lens shade is included with all three models of ASTELE 133.5.
