This economy glove box is designed for work requiring a sealed chamber or special conditioned environment. It is useful as a glove box, dust box, dry box, or draft-free enclosure for tissue culturing. With available accessories, this box can be used as an environmental chamber with reduced pressures or special atmospheres.

The chemically welded construction of 0.8cm (5/16") thick acrylic is absolutely gastight. The interior can be chemically sterilized with various agents including formalin. The acrylic used is unaffected by most inorganic solutions, oils, low concentrations of alcohol, paraffin and olefin hydrocarbons, amines, alkyl monohalides, and esters with more than 10 carbon atoms. Two side entries have readily removable covers for the introduction of materials.

Economy gloves (54848-142, -144) are of one-piece, seamless neoprene construction and protect against liquid or gas penetration. Clamping ring (54848-138) holds gloves in place.

Iris closures (54848-130) permit easy entry with bare hands or thin (disposable) gloves for delicate work without disturbing isolated conditions. Each consists of 10 layers of soft, conforming rubber and provides 30 points of contact on entry. Air lock (54848-122) is supplied with a connecting sleeve with 30.5cm (12") diameter interior cover to separate air lock from glove box. The side entry cover from the glove box becomes the outside door of the airlock.
