Benchmade 555HG Mini-Griptilian Folding Knife, Thumb-Hole Opener by Pardue Design Product Info

The BenchMade 555HG Mini-Griptilian Thumbhole Folding Knife by Pardue Design is a ambidextrous folder with a thumb-hole opening to let you open the blade with ease. The Benchmade Mini-Griptilian features a hollow ground modifiedimage sheepsfoot blade, a style with no point on the tip, minimal belly and a spine that curves down to meet the edge. The Benchmade 555HG Knife is ideal for applications where slicing is the main requirement, and a point is either not needed or would actively get in the way, such as emergency rescue work. The folding blade is locked in place by the Benchmade AXIS locking mechanism, a 100-percent ambidextrous design that uses a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spans the liners, and is positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar its inertia to engage the knife tang. As a result, the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself. The blade of the Benchmade 555 MiniGriptilian Knife is built from 154CM stainless steel blade (58-61HRC), an American made premium grade stainless steel originally developed for tough industrial applications. Known for its best all-around qualities, it offers great corrosion resistance with good toughness and edge quality. The whole package is secured in your hand with a Valox handle with 420J stainless steel liners and a reversible steel pocket clip.
