The EFA-4 performs especially well for Acridine Orange fluorescence and is very effective if combined with transmitted Phase Contrast observation. The bright 9V/70W halogen lamp provides uniform illumination adequate for FITC fluorescence. Practically service-free when compared to more expensive high-pressure mercury systems, the attachment features a centerable lamp holder, a movable collector lens for focusing the filament, an field iris diaphragm, and filter slots to accommodate up to three excitation and heat-absorbing filters simultaneously. An external power supply unit ensures continuous brightness control. Use of the HM-45 Monocular Head is recommended for better light transmission. The EFA-4 has a magnification factor of 1.8X and is included in the Epi-Fluorescence Upgrade Package (UP-EFA4), which comes in a wooden box with four Achromatic EAF-Series Objectives, a set of filters, the external power supply unit and three halogen bulbs. |
