One of the biggest hassles on the battlefield, hunting grounds or at the range is having your weapon fail.  Reasons abound for why this might happen, but it can be downright impossible to get to a spare set of tools when you’re in a jam.  Rummaging through a bag or pocket isn’t as convenient as simply having the tools close at hand, which is why Hogue developed their AR-15 Rubber Grip and Field Survivor Kit.  This puts pretty much all the gun cleaning tools you need in the field right at your fingertips so you can access them when you need them.  That’s great, but with a dozen different tools at your disposal, what are the 5 Best Uses for the Hogue AR-15 Grip & Survivor Kit?

  1. Remove a broken shell with the shell extractor – Out of Spec shells can break and lodge in your AR-15.  Get them out in a snap with the extractor!
  2. Clean your bore with the wire brush, carbon scrapping tool and cable – Lube up the gun with with the ampule for one lube too so you’re in tip top shape!
  3. Adjust the front sight for spot on accuracy – Simple, quick and effective.  How can you NOT have a front sight adjustment tool?

I could come up with a ton of different things you can do with the Field Survivor Kit, but I’m sure to miss some because there are just too many possibilities.  Having a flat head screwdriver should be more than enough to give you tons of options for fixing a variety of types of gear in the field.  The innovative design that stores this kit in the grip really blows my mind.  Your AR-15 will never be the same again.  And this isn’t just some handy tool, it’s sure to be essential for staying both safe and effective, regardless if you’re at the range or the field.  The Hogue AR-15 Rubber Grip and Field Survivor Kit is both simple and innovative, and I am sure you’ll swear by it as soon as you try it out.

I WOULD PURCHASE THIS IF IT ALSO HAD A RAIL SYSTEM SO i COULD ADD OTHER LIGHTS, OR A LASER TARGETING LIGHT.

Ok what is new Surefire has been making replacement forearms with lights for year for both Remington and Mossberg, problem is the cost low in being 300.00. You can get a replacement forearm with a rail and attach a 1 inch mount with a tac light a do the same thing. I set up 3 shotguns for what one would cost if I did a surefire replacement forearm.

That’s a great idea, and one we hope SureFire looks into as well! I will say this particular light is so ergonomic that an additional rail might make it too bulky, but there does seem to be room on the end for a rail. Maybe next years model will have further customization options.

This particular model and the intuitive and ergonomic design is what’s really new with the SureFire Mossberg Forend light. You certainly can buy a regular replacement forearm with a rail, but the great design on this light makes it much easier to turn on without changing your grip.
