Zeiss Hunting Post

Never Miss an Opportunity to Take the Shot with Zeiss!

Posted on January 4, 2013 by Brian

When you’re out hunting a wide variety of equipment can be used to make sure you find game and can hit it with your rifle.  Sure, you can go out without binoculars, but you’re going to miss that 10 point buck that’s been in your dreams for years.  You could take a shot without first determining the distance to the target, but if your estimation is off you’ll shoot high or low.  Hunting gear has evolved over the years.  Once upon a time a vast majority of hunters stomped through the woods with nothing but a rifle, a scope and maybe a pair of binoculars.  You don’t have to be so limited.  And if you’re going to equip yourself, why not do it with one of the world’s most respected and trusted brands like Zeiss?

The Zeiss Victory Spotting Scope helps you find game from a stationary position!

The Zeiss Victory Spotting Scope helps you find game from a stationary position!

First, you’re going to need to spot game. The two most common and best ways to do this is with a spotting scope or binocular. Spotting Scopes, such as the Zeiss Victory FL DiaScope, are better when you’re in a stationary position. You’ll generally want to use a tripod with a spotting scope to stabilize the view because of the greater magnification. If you look at the Victory FL DiaScope, it magnifies the image anywhere from 20-75 times! Even a little shaking from your hands as you hold it could distort the image. If you’re holed up in a hunting blind, a good spotting scope ensures you can see far off game clearly.

Zeiss Conquest HD Binoculars

These Zeiss Conquest HD Binoculars give you a spectacular view on the go!

On the other hand, you might be moving around quite a bit on your hunt, and you’ll want a more mobile option.  A binocular is the right optic in these instances.  You’ll generally want a bino with magnification in the 8x to 12x magnification range, such as the brand new Zeiss Conquest HD 10×32 Binocular.  They’re tough, have the great glass Zeiss is known for, and have advanced lens coatings for superior light transmission and accurate color reproduction.  When you’re traveling over miles of terrain, these binoculars are the optic to use.

Now let’s say you’ve found your target.  It’s a beautiful ten point buck, but it’s a fair ways off.  You don’t want to spook it so you can’t get much closer.  At your current range you’ll definitely need to compensate for bullet drop, but you’re not certain of your distance.  Do you hold over one foot?  Two?  I never want to wound an animal, so I want to be absolutely spot on.  For perfect accuracy, you need an exact distance to target. A laser rangefinder is the way to go.  The Zeiss Victory 8×26 PRF Rangefinder is a fantastic choice.  Not only do you get your distance, but it will also give you accurate holdover information so there’s no guesswork involved at all.  This is a very advanced piece of technology, but it also has fantastic glass, which is important when you’re range finding in low light conditions.  With the Victory you’ll still get a great image, enabling you to get an accurate reading regardless of the time of day.

Now that you have your target and know your distance, you need to take a shot, and that means you’ll need an outstanding rifle scope.  There are a lot of options from Zeiss, but I’m going to recommend checking out Conquest 3-9×40 MC Waterproof Scope.  It’s actually the best-rated Zeiss Rifle Scope on OpticsPlanet right now, with 38 reviews and a near perfect average score.  People love the clear optics, generous eye relief and precise windage and elevation adjustments.  People buy Zeiss expecting quality, so when you see one reviewer after another praising the Conquest, and in many cases saying it has performed better than expected, you know it’s quite amazing.  You’re going to have a much easier time hitting your target if your rifle has a Zeiss Conquest Mounted on top of it.

How much time do you spend preparing for your hunting trips?  How many nights do you dream about finally finding that perfect buck?  Don’t miss your opportunity because you were under-prepared.  Use Zeiss and your next hunting trip will be a great success!
