The aerodynamic design of the sash handle, airfoil, upper dilution air supply, and rear down-flow baffle work in concert to produce horizontal airflow patterns. These patterns significantly reduce concentrations of chemical contaminants throughout the work area, particularly near the face of the hood, operator-breathing zone, and at the work surface. Hoods perform equally well on either a constant volume or variable air volume system. Hoods are glacier white and have a dry powder, epoxy-coated steel exterior. Hoods feature chemical-resistant, molded composite panel liner with flame spread less than 25 per ASTM E-84. Removable front and side panels and exterior and interior service access panels for access to plumbing and electrical wiring. Aerodynamic curve of the airfoil allows air to sweep the work surface for maximum containment. Clean-Sweep* openings pull inflow air from under the airfoil so that clean air continually flows over the airfoil creating a constant protective barrier from contaminants.

Vertical-rising sash is constructed of 0.5cm (3/16") thick tempered safety glass and features three pre-set positions: fully open, fully closed, and partially open at a 45.7cm (18") working height. Sash handle includes a perforated air passage directly atop the handle to bleed air into the hood chamber and direct chemical fume concentrations away from the user-breathing zone.

Two service fixtures are pre-plumbed with forged brass valves; one for gas and one for cold water. Components for converting either or both fixtures to air and vacuum are provided. Hoods are factory prepared for up to eight service fixtures and four electrical duplex receptacles. The 115V models that include services fixtures also include an electrical duplex receptacle.

The 115V models are ETL and ETL-C listed. The 230V models are CE marked.
