Manfrotto SYMPLA Version Fig Rig MVA522W camera-stabilizing system was the brainchild of film director Mike Figgis, who has employed the idea on many of his award-winning films. Non-traditional in design, simple and effective, this Manfrotto tripod accessory is itself a modular system which smoothly supports HDSLRs or camcorders while acting as a frame to mount accessories, including remote controls, mics, mixers, lights, monitors, arms and more. Essentially a circular frame with crossbar mount to hold the camera (via a sliding QR plate), the Manfrotto SYMPLA Fig Camera Rig almost becomes another body part to produce smooth, steady traveling shots. As the operator walks, their muscles and tendons absorb all the shocks, transferring only fluid movements to the camera. With no straps or harnesses attached to the tripod accessory, quick and wide movements can be made within the same shot from ground-level to overhead, all in one smooth movement. It allows for quick and unobtrusive filming, flexibility and expanded creativity. Manfrotto Bogen Tripods has built the SYMPLA version of the Fig Rig with a Universal Mount in the centre of the wheel, so that SYMPLA rails can be fitted, allowing other components and kits such as the Long Lens Support or Flexible Mattebox to be attached.
