flash memory card format, launched by
Sony in October 1998, and is also used in general to describe the whole family of
Memory Sticks (
"Memory stick" is also occasionally used to refer informally to USB flash memory drives.). This family includes the original
Memory Stick,
Memory Stick Pro, a revision that allows
greater maximum storage capacity and
faster file transfer speeds and maximum theoretical capacity of 32 GB,
Memory Stick Duo, a
small-form-factor version of the
Memory Stick, and a
Memory Stick PRO Duo.
Memory Stick PRO Duo is half the size of a standard-size
Memory Stick PRO media and it offers the same technologies including
high speed data transfer, built-in
MagicGate*, and
high capacities.
