Leupold Acadia 10X42's.......are they out there?

Postby Nekohito on Wed Apr 09, 2008 8:43 pm

After days of pouring over data and comparisons from all over the web, I decided to pursue the Leupold Acadia series binocs. I called every Leupold distributor in the Denver area, but no one has this new product from Leupold.

One guy even told me that he thinks that Leupold hasn't even shipped any because their so new. They're showing them on their website, so I assumed that they're actually available.

Has anyone actually touched a pair of these binocs?

If so, I'd appreciate your thoughts on the product.
If not, it's back to the data charts.

I'm basically looking for a pair of 10X42 phase coated, roof prism binocs with fully multi-coated lenses. Water/Fog proof is nice with a FOV of around 300 ft. at 1000 yds and decent eye relief and exit pupil dimensions.

Oh yeah,,,,,I'd like the MSRP to be under $250.

These Leupold's fit the bill, but I'm leary of a brand new product with no field testing and or any customer feedback.

I'm open for suggestions.....

Hi

We've had a few come through, so they are out there, but, no, I haven't had an opportunity to check one out. In the meantime, the Vortex Diamondbackis a good alternative.

Leupold Acadia's

Postby Nekohito on Fri Apr 11, 2008 9:43 am

Thanks for the response. Glad to hear it's a real product and you're store can provide them.

Also, I'll look for the Vortex Diamondback's.

Binocs with these specifications and price range "catagory" are not easy to locate.

Thanks again Jne_K.

Anyone else out there have any experience with these binocs???

What's the deal with Leupold?

Postby Nekohito on Mon May 19, 2008 12:23 am

I ordered these binocs in April and here it is 5/18 and still no estimate on when I might receive this product. :( Could be a week or a month, nobody seems to know.

Optics Planet told me 2 weeks after I placed the order (which is what Leupold told them), but Leupold has dropped the ball on this one. To be fair, Optics Planet doesn't have much control on this problem. They keep telling me they're not sure when the product will ship, probably because Leupold is not being straight with them.

This is a new product, but I didn't think it would take this long. I really think these manufacturers advertise new products before they're actually available in any decent quantity. They might also give retailers priority, I'm not sure. Optics Planet told me there's a customer who's been waiting since February. Wowww. They really want this product.

Again,,,,there's no beef with OP, they've given the me option to bail and haven't charged my card and won't until they have them in their hands. For now I'll keep waiting, but I'll think twice before I order a "New" product again.

Hopefully, the wait will be worth the quality......hopefully.

Hi

I certainly understand your frustration and, yes, it is common industry practice to announce and start taking orders on products before they are ready. This works, fine, when all goes as scheduled, but is less than satisfactory if their is a glitch in the manufacturing and production. That is the case with the Acadia. Leupold is still a bit fuzzy as to when we will see them, so I cannot in all honesty give you a firm date. In the meantime, you may wish to explore one of the other Leupold products, such as the Olympic or the Pinnacles. These are available.

leupold acadias

Did you ever buy the leupolds?
We have them at Dick's sporting goods in Florida.
I am also shopping and have narrowed it down between the acadias and the nikon Monarchs.
I was wondering if you had any comments on them after buying?

Hi

Yes, you can see and order the Acadias on our website. Good binocular for the money, but no bino at this price will compare to any $300 bino in terms of optics or durability.
