Canon 10x30 IS or Meade 10x42 Montana

I am looking for general purpose binoculars I might use them on a boat and sometimes watching the night sky on a rare occasion. I like the image stabilization but I need to know what I would be sacrificing. What are the optical coatings on the Canon exactly? Are they equivalent to the PC Fully-multi-coated optics of the Meade? Are their any other advantages or disadvantages for either of these binoculars that makes one better. Which would you choose?

Hi

Most people find that handholding a 10x is not a problem, so outside using them on a deck of a boat, there is not a lot to be gained with the IS.

My main criticism of IS centers around the fragile nature of IS. Binos with IS only feature a 1 year warranty, as do most instruments electrical in nature. If you plan to be using a bino hard in the filed or to be using it under extreme conditions, I would recommend a conventional binocular as a better long term investment.
