Which is right?...7x26 Elite compact

Postby Okie Dokie on Mon Sep 15, 2008 2:49 am

On the Optic Planet site, I notice in the specs, that these particular binocs are not fogproof or water proof. Very strange for an Elite binoc NOT to be waterproof and fogproof???

And yet on the Bushnell site, it shows that they ARE very fog proof and very water proof!!!

Which is correct?

Also, how would they compare to the compact Nikon ATB Prostaffs, the Vortex Vanquish and Yosemites.

I`d like a compact porro (around $200 or less) for hunting, 20 oz. or less, with more to fill my hands than just the narrower and straight tubed compacts.

If the 7x26 Compact Elite is in fact, fog and waterproof, they just may be what I`m looking for...........Same quality as the E2`s?

Hi

Surprises me, too, but they are NOT waterproof and that is according to Bushnell. I know, because I called them directly on it. They are really just a re-labeled Bushnell Custom Compact.

................Hi Joanie!.....Well! I made a phone call to Bushnell myself today, who did in fact confirm as does their web site, that the 7x26 Elite E2`s, ARE indeed waterproof and fogproof just like larger roofs.

I did inform them without mentioning distributor names, that distributors are showing the Elite compacts with no waterproofing or fogproofing on their web sites.

Bushnell couldn`t understand why the no waterproofing or fogproofing!

Hi

That's not what they told us. I talked to their product tech several months ago and got a different answer. Take your pick, I guess.

Just an update - for what it is worth, it says right in the manual for the new Elite 7x26 that the binocular is not waterproof.
