The better brands vs. lesser brands

Surely there are binoculars made by the more modestly priced brands like Bushnell, Meade or Tasco that offer comparable optical performance to the likes of the more excessively priced optics of Leica or Zeiss. Certainly, if you buy something with Bak-4 prisms, you`re half-way there, aren`t you?

Best Binocular for the money

Postby Stan @ Opticsplanet on Tue Apr 20, 2004 4:29 pm

Thank you for your interest in www.OpticsPlanet.com. A lot of the differences are found in the comforts and amenities of the more expensive binoculars. This includes grooves for your thumbs, or click-stop focus adjustments. As for optical quality, you can always find some moderately priced binoculars to fit your needs.

Yes, the first key feature to look for in a good quality binocular is the BAK-4 prism. Also look for "fully-multicoated optics." Much of the rest is just the little personal qualities. Below are a few good options you may want to look at:

http://www.opticsplanet.com/minolta-8x40-wp-fp.html, Minolta 8x40 WP Activa.

These are just a few of our all purpose, high quality binoculars. If you want to learn more, visit our How To Buy section here, http://opticsplanet.com/info/how_to_buy ... lars.shtml.

I hope this has been helpful.
