new to using Binoculars
I am interested in using binoculars for viewing objects such as M31. I really don't know where to start in considering a pair of binoculars. I want something powerful, but once again what do you suggest?

Hi
You can see M31 with any binocular under a dark sky, but for an astronomy binocular, you should start with an 8x40 or 10x50 and go up from there in size.
For the basics on astronomy binoculars, along with links to some models which can be used for astronomy, see my article, Astronomical Binoculars
