Hi,

I appreciate price is often a guide to quality however can you outline what differences, strenths and weaknesses may exist between these to models. I was looking at the 8 x 42 spec.

Hi

Better optics on the Peregrine - better glass used in the objectives, better lens coatings (proprietary dielectric) so better image brightness. You will see a difference.

Handling and overall quality is also nicer on the Peregirne. The Merlin has always felt clunky in my hands by comparison. 30 year warranty on the Peregrine - Steiner's best, reserved for their top shelf products. 10 years on the Merlin.

If you can afford it, the Peregrine is an excellent bino and one I would recommend.
