Hi
Optically, I'd give a slight edge to the DCF SP but durability and, of course, the name go to the Steiner. The Peregrine is my favorite Steiner birding bino.

Re: steiner peregrine v Pentax DCF SP
Thanks. Judging by some of the specifications the Steiner Skyhawk may be a re-badged Merlin. How do you rate the optics of ther Merlin against the Peregrine/Pentax DCF SP please. My application is all round use including hunting in Austalia's alpine areas. The durability of the Steiner is appealing however the DCF SP's come very well rated. rgds

Hi
We don't carry the Skyhawk in N.A., so can't vouch for that, but optics in the Merlin are a step down from the peregrine. go with the Peregrine if you can afford it.
