Nikon Premier SE 10X42

Postby Guest789 on Thu Jul 23, 2009 5:07 pm

Hello Joanie,

In another thread, you stated:

"I have yet to test anything at any price that will outscore a premier SE."

to which you added:

"Basically any Premier SE, especially the 10x42,...."

to a follow up question.

I would appreciate further info on this topic. Are you saying that strictly from an optical perspective, no other 10X42 outscores the 10X42 Nikon Premier SE?

If I remember correctly, you rarely reccommend these. Does this mean they have a "weakness" not related to optical quality?

As always, your comments are very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Norm

P.S. I now see why you recommend starting a new thread!

Hi

I stand by that statement. You can find other binos that will be as good, but you would be very hard pressed to find anything that outscored an Se across the board.

I do not recommend the SE, anymore, because of availability issues. This is no longer a regularly stocked Nikon item for any Nikon dealer. It is now a strictly special order item from Japan and getting one is a long and difficult process. We simply are not set up to handle these types of orders. Best bet would be to shop for something on Ebay.

Hello,

Having heard great things about these binoculars, I was puzzled by the fact I was not able to ever see a pair. Now I understand, thanks to you!

I am very hesitant though, about purchasing a pair without haing tried them as I have seen binoculars before which I have no doubt had excellent optics, but which I found did not suit me due to eye relief and/or hand feel.

Always appreciate the information you provide. Once again, thank you!

You are welcome. Going to be tough to find anyplace that has enough binos to go the hands on approach, but I have seen some SEs on E-bay. might be worth a try if they will let you return one.
