Bino for around $300

Postby xtgdan on Sat Oct 17, 2009 9:11 am

I kayak on lakes and lazy rivers and I'd like some binos suitable for that activity . . . but not exclusively. So I guess I need some good all around binos that are waterproof . . . for about $300. I've been looking at Nikon 8x42 Monarch and Pentax 8x42 HRc. I could go smaller (for yakking) but don't want to give up much for all around use. Any thoughts? Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks.

Hi

Similar binos and both good choices, but, with the current Nikon rebate, the Monarch 8x42 is easily the best buy.

Yeah, for all day use like in the kayak, the light Monarchs are good. If there are still 8x38 Monarchs, they are even lighter I think.

Yes, see the 8x36 Monarch. Won't lose much int he way of performance with this slightly smaller bino, but no promo.
