Fujinon or Nikon or other?

Hi,

I am looking for a pair of marine binoculars. I've been looking at the Nikon Sports (mod 7443) but also on the Fujinon MTRC-SX and the FMTRC-SX as these two seem to have both compass and rangefinding reticle.

How are the Fujinon alternatives compared to the Nikon and is there a big difference between the two Fujinons?
Last - I have not managed to find information whether the compass is illuminated in the Fujinons, I know that it is not the case with the Nikon?

It is funny how the "Devil of Quality" gets you. Initially I considered the Tasco 541 but have after further reading taken a few steps up.

QAll good choices, but you do get the best in terms of quality and performance, with the Polaris series, such as the F-SX 7x50 About as good as it gets, optically, in a 7x50

1. For a non-commercial sailor - Is the FMTRC worth the extra money compared to the MTRC?
2. It says that illuminated compass for the Fujinon is "optional", what does this mean? That it can be bought with or without or can it be furnished later?

Only you can answer if it is worth the money. Not something I can answer for you. For myself, I always opt for the best optics I can afford. That option may be available from Fujinon, but not an option we can offer.
