2x Safari and general purpose binocs for total 0

I'm going to Kenya on safari with my fiance

Can somebody recommend 2 good quality binocs for a total of $300? I'd like to stay around 8x magnification with one full size pair for me and one smaller pair for her (she's 5'4" and has small hands). My goal is to get models that are good for real usage, don't just have the best specs on paper.

I'm kind of a brand guy and it looks to me like I should stick with Leupold, Nikon, or Steiner for my price range.

For you a porro 8x40, Nikon, Bushnell, etc. There is a celestron 8x30 worth a look.

For her, Leupold Yosemite 8x30.
