I'm looking at purchasing a good 10x binoculars for under $1000. I've done some searching on this forum and have seen that the Minox HG is often compared to Pentax DCF ED and Meopta Meostar as well as Vortex Razor. I'm very interested in the Minox, but have read mixed reviews.
I've been liking the Meopta Meostar, but have read that it has a slight yellow bias at 10x.
If all of these binos costed the same amount...is there any reason to consider any over the Minox? Also, how does the distance feature work where it tells you how far away the object is? Is this accurate? Thanks.

Re: Minox HG vs others
Hi
It is really going to be a matter of personal preference. I can't give you a black and white answer on which to pick. My favorite in this price range - under $1000 has been the Pentax DCF ED and, if that is too pricey, the DCF SP.
The rangefinder feature is crude at best. Just some markings on the focusing knob. Like all such focusers, the greater the distance, the greater the error. It is not a repalcement for a laser rangefinder and it is NOT a feature I would use for a buying decision.
