Help me with my new Russian Binoculars

Postby Russian Bino on Wed Dec 30, 2009 9:55 am

I've recently bought a new Binoculars Made in Russia from a local huting shop in Lebanon (middle east)

It's amazing. I can see evrything using it even the plates numbers of vehicles!

I like it soo much. But I dont know its specifications :(

On the right side its written on it: 99990x98800
sehfeld
8mauf980000m

I have absolutly no idea what does that mean! Any ideas?

Here are some pics of the binocular it self. Have a Look

Russian, please join Birdforum and ask there. There are lots of bino nuts there.

The first thing you'll have to determine is brand and without that, you are just guessing, other than what is marked on the binocular. ET is right: get online on a birdforum in your region of the world in hopes that someone has something similar. Not likely to find that bino in this part of the world or info on it, since very little of that breed of optic is seen over here.

Best of luck in your search.

I followed up on this and the Russian binoculars in question were probably Chinese made very recently with Made in Russia and some Russian looking logos stamped on them. A scam. Not classic German design made in Russia. eBay may have the same.

Thanks, ET

Yes, Ebay scams on optics are becoming more common and a real issue for both customers and legit retailers like OpticsPlanet. The ONLY way to beat this when buying new is to buy from authorized dealers for the brand. Sorry to say, when buying used, you have to do all the research and take all the precautions. Best way to do this is to only only buy from sellers with a good score and a proven track record.
