Question about Minox BD 10x44mm BP
Minox is an excellent European binocular, though not regarded quite in the same class as Zeiss, Swarovski and Leica, but in recent years, Minox has been aggressive in upgrading their line. At this point, it is very much a matter of which Minox model you select. The BP, though, is a good one.
You are switching over to a porro with the BP and, optically, that is an excellent move, since a good porro takes a back seat to no roof prism when it comes to optics and, yes, the Minox is a good porro. What you do give up with a porro is the slimmer and more compact design that you get with a roof prism - most folks prefer the feel and balance of a roof, but there are still a few of us who love the feel of a good porro prism binocular and, as porros go, the BP has excellent handling. I also like the internal focusing of the BP, which eliminates the shortcomings of an external focusing system found on the typical porro prism.
