As always, you must be careful to look for phase-correction (PC) when shopping for a budget grade roof prism. Without phase-correction, a roof will not live up to its full potential in terms of optics. Phase-correction is no guarantee of good optics, but it is a necessary ingredient to get the most out of a roof prism design.

The Monarch is phase-corrected - one of the reasons it is more expensive. The Redfield is not phase-corrected, but the Bushnell Trophy XLT is phase-corrected, as is the Bushnell Excursion X and the Bushnell Legend. However, the old Trophy is not - this is the main upgrade on the XLT. Myself, I would opt for a PC model if you are most concerned with optics.
