Why FUJINON binoculars are so good? (Serious)

Postby SILVERANTONIUS on Sun Mar 07, 2010 7:34 pm

Yesterday, I met a nice member of US Coast Guard in San Vicente and I had a unique chance to be on one of their boats and they had a binocular made by FUJINON, 7x50 I believe, it looked like this one:

This binocular absolutely blew my mind.
I had many binoculars[/link] in my life, I had military styles,Barska[/link] civilian types, quite few russian ]binoculars[/link], night vison etc, but this one was absolutely shocking.
I could easily see through it and the image was so sharp and clear like I never saw before in any binocular[/link] I had in my hands.
Why is that particular binocular[/link] so unique and clear?
Can someone please explain how is that possible?

EDIT: Is it because of the "eye relief" distance?

Clarity is not a function of eye relief.

Fujinon binoculars are so good because they have been designing and manufacturing optics for decades. If you have been doing something for decades, chances are you would become fairly good at it....

Fujinon is also good because, in some ways, they are still old school and very conservative. They spend more on quality control than on marketing. Very fine Japanese binocular made the way a binocular should be made. Very much a reference standard in both astronomy binoculars and marine binoculars.
