need recommendation on binocs under $130

Postby melrose on Wed Mar 31, 2010 7:22 am

I am going to primarily be using these for archery 3d shoots where I need closups of the score rings on the animals from 10-50 yards. I will also want to use them when I go hunting or hking. I was just looking at these Nikons http://www.opticsplanet.com/pentax-ucf-wp-binocular-8x25.html what do you guys think? I know I am not going toget the clarity and quality of the higher end binocs, I just need some opinions on my best options under $130 for what I am going to be using these for. Here are some things to consider; they should be fairly compact and lightweight to carry while shooting a bow, waterproof for indoor and outdoor use. I don't need to see and antelope at 1000 yds, but more so reasonable detail at 30-40 yds w/o too much shake. I am returning a 6x monoc that didn't cut it.
Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi

If you can handle a 10x in a compact, it will give you a touch more detail and resolution. Easily the best buy on the market, right now, in a 10x compact, is theNikon Ecobin 10x25. It's only that cheap because OpticsPlanet made a special purchase from Nikon. Really is the Nikon Prostaff 10x25 in different packaging and the Prostaff right there at the top of my list, anyway. It's waterproof for your hunting and optics are as good as it gets for the price in a compact.
