As a retired, formerly full-time employee of Optics Planet, why OpticsPlanet, of course. Seriously, Swarovski is quite strict about pricing and shopping around won't save you much, if anything. Then, too, OpticsPlanet is a premier dealer for Swarovski. If a Swarovski is not in stock, they can get it for, direct from Swarovski in about the same amount of time.

Re: Swarovski EL 10X42's
OK I have emailed Optics planet about these. On another website I found 2 Swarovski EL 10X42's. One was $1800 +/- and the other was $2400 +/- the only difference that I could see is the more expensive pair were swarovision. What is that and is it worth $600 and Optics planet did not mention it one way or another.

Re: Swarovski EL 10X42's
I recently did some research into the Swarovski EL binoculars for a blog I wrote here at Optics Planet, and I'd be happy to share some of my findings with you.
Explained in the most basic way possible, Swarovision makes for the image at the edges of your field of view as crystal clear as they are at the center. For high-end use, the technology is pretty ground breaking. That isn't to say the older EL models aren't good- they are still some of the highest performing binoculars you can find on the market. This statement comes not only from product specialists like Joanie, but also from our customers who absolutely love Swarovski Binoculars.
You can find a great post about the improvements Swarovski made to the Swarovski EL and what Swarovision means for an end-user here:

Our representatives have probably already e-mailed you back, but I can confirm that we have the new Swarovski EL 10x42s in stock right now (7/21/10). We would have to contact Swarovski about the older model for you, and if Swarovski has any they are typically pretty quick about getting it out, as Joanie mentioned.

Re: Swarovski EL 10X42's
Hi
I second that, all the way. I was fortunate enough to see an actual prototype of the new Els, last year and the wide, flat field of view took my breath, away. Then, too, there were some changes to the body contour that made the already excellent handling qualities even better. Is it all worth another $600? That's a question each of us must answer for ourselves, but for an optics nut like me, the answer is a very definite yes.
