Best Compact In Pice Range

Postby Ford on Thu Sep 23, 2010 5:49 pm

Hey Joanie, Your recommendation of the Pentax 8x25 DCF SW in the prior post got me wondering about the Pentax 9x28 DCF LV. Is it the best compact with phase coating, waterproof, good eye relief and fully multi-coated in that price range? If not, what do you like better? Thanks as always for your expert opinion. We all on this board really respect it and are grateful for your input.

Hi Ford

Thank-you for those nice comments. Always glad to help.

I certainly can recommend the Pentax in that price range if you are looking for a roof with all the good features. I think you can get a better bino, optically, with the Bushnell Custom Compact 7x26, oops, Elite 7x26, but, of course, it's not a roof. Another compact I would look at is the Steiner Wildlife Pro 8.5x26. This one will be quite similar to the Pentax, though I prefer the handling on the Pentax. Not much else in a compact roof at this price, though.
Thanks for posting with us
