Hi
What are the main differences between the Nikon Montainer II 10x25 and the Nikon Pro Staff 10x25? Which is the best?

Re: Nikon 10x25
Hi
The Mountaineer was the predecessor to the Prostaff. The Mountaineer was made in Japan with an all metal body. Wonderful binocular if you can still find one in good shape. The Prostaff, though, benefits from all the technology Niikon had applied to binocular production, since. The Prostaff, of course, is made in China by Nikon (not for Nikon by another company as with so many made in China binoculars.) Even in the 90s, I remember seeing prices near $200 for the Mountaineer. The Pro Staff has never sold that high.
Assuming a Mountaineer in equal condition, I would opt for the Mountaineer for its heavier duty construction and made in Japan quality, though Mountaineers did not have as much eye relief as the Prostaff if eye relief and wearing glasses is an issue for you. Optically, pretty close, though.
