compact binocular comparison
I'd like to buy a new compact roof prism binocular in the 8 x 24 or 8 x 25 range. I'm looking for decent optics (naturally) and long eye-relief; weatherproof is probably sufficient since I don't expect to be using the them in a canoe or small boat. I'm trying to decide among the following: Pentax DCF SW, Minox BVII - BR and BD - BR and possibly the Brunton Eterna, which is about my maximum price. Since the Pentax and Minox BV are the cheapest (around $140), the Minox BD is a bit more and the Brunton seems to be over $250 if it's available. Needless to say, I haven't found a local store to do an in person comparison. Could anyone comment on these?

Re: compact binocular comparison
Hello,
All fine choices! The Pentax will have the greatest eye relief at 20mm, while the Minox has the smallest at 15.5mm, so if you wera glasses, that may be importatnt to you. The Brunton and Pentax fold a bit smaller that the Minox due to the double hinge construction, but I still like the single hinge and all aluminum construction of the Minox. Optically, with these smaller compacts, i don't think you will be able to determine much difference between them.

Thanks.
From the description it looks like the Minox BVII is not phase coated--is that correct? Would it make any difference?
