Hunting Binos Help please

Postby REwalt01 on Thu Jul 03, 2014 10:43 pm

Ok so I'm looking at purchasing some hunting binoculars less than 200, preferably around 100-150. I can deal with used or demos. What is the best buy in a 10x42? I've done some research and I could still spend hours reading reviews.I went to a local store to see for myself. All comparisons were done in store so, not exactly ideal conditions. I really wanted to look through the vortex crossfire 2's bc of their warranty, and they were unavailable. Here are the few I tried:

Alpine shasta ridge: seemed to be the lowest quality. Appeared to look "hazy".

Nikon prostaff: Not bad, but didn't seem to have great clarity compared to the following.

Redfield revolution and I believe Bushnell legends: these two seemed very close. The bushnells seemed a bit better with clarity and focus, and also more expensive. I believe the redfield were smaller which is a plus.

The redfield seem to be a good buy for the price and quality. I'm not a big optics guru, but I know typically quality optics come with a price. Unfortunately I don't have 500-1000 to spend. Any suggestions on better glass for the money? I know there are tons of options. Sorry for the long post. I would appreciate some feedback.

Easy. OPMOD 10 x 42s. We designed them in house with all the attributes a hunter needs. Lifetime warranty. Less expensive than the big names because we demand less profit. I've taken them to Alaska to Texas and many places in between. So have countless others. Great optics, great size, ergonomic, priced right, and the best value in any binocular under 200 bucks. Absolutely a best buy.
