Best all around 8x42 for hunting/ fishing?

Postby Eagle Eye on Mon Oct 18, 2004 10:35 pm

I am looking for the best pair of somewhat compact binoculars in the 8x42 to 10x42 range that would be good for all around use including surf fishing, boating and sports- Waterproof is a must and a compact size would be great to. Unfortunately my budget is only around $100-150 so the best around those suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks-

Hi

For around $150 we can find you several good binoculars that would be waterproof and a few that would be compact as well. Here are just a few of the binoculars we can recommend.

Minolta 8x25 Activa (a true compact) , http://www.opticsplanet.com/minolta-act ... ulars.html

Minolta 8x40 Activa (full size, but good), http://www.opticsplanet.com/minolta-8x40-wp-fp.html

Nikon Action Extreme 8x40 (full size, good optics), http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-8x40- ... -7238.html

Nikon 8x25 Mountaineer (great compact binocular just under $200), http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-8x25-mountaineer.html

Pentax 8x40 PCF WP, (full size with good eye relief, http://www.opticsplanet.com/noname.html

Pentax UCF WP 10x25 (compact), http://www.opticsplanet.com/pentax-10x2 ... ulars.html

Thanks so much- What do you have in the 10x magnification? That is primarily what I am interested in.

Your price range is primarily limiting you to very low quality optics that are going to give you some viscous headaches. Save your money and get low-end, but descent bino for around $300.00.
