Compact waterproof binocs

Postby fishtail on Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:21 pm

I'm looking to buy a pair of compact binoculars for use on my kayak. I'll use it to observe wildlife along the shoreline as well as spot surface action in the shallows if I'm fishing. I also occasionally go to sporting events and shows. What do you suggest?

Thanks

Hi

Finding waterproof compact binoculars will be no problem; you have many choices at every price point.

For compacts, I line an 8x. For me, a 10x compact is too hard to hold steady, especially when holding it with one hand as I frequently do. However, many people prefer a 10x, even in a compact and I won't argue with that.

Here are just a few I would consider for your application

Kowa 8x25 Waterproof (great buy), http://www.opticsplanet.com/kowa-8x25-r ... ulars.html

Nikon Premier 8x20LX, http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-8x20m ... ulars.html (superb optics and waterproof)

Nikon 8x25 Mountaineer II, http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-8x25-mountaineer.html (classic heavy duty compact)

Swarovski 8x20. http://www.opticsplanet.com/swarovski-8x20-bp.html (ultra quality compact)
