Help on birding binocs

Postby sinamen78 on Thu Apr 21, 2005 12:42 pm

I would like to buy a nice pair of birding binocs. Preferably under $300. I do wear glasses and some of the birds near my window and feeders are maybe 5-6 ft. away. Any good suggestions out there, anyone? Ranburr?

Hi

For close focus capability like that, you will need to go to a roof prism. Most porro prism binoculars can't focus down that close.

For $300, you have some excellent choices, though close focus won't quite make it to 5-6 ft.

Nikon 8x42 Monarch, (close focus of 8 ft, not 19 ft as shown on our website), http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-monarchatb8x40.html
