I just looked at these today and compared them side by side with a $1600 pair of Swarovski and an $800 pair of Steiners. For $299, they really held their own.
Any thoughts on these?
Maybe a better way to look at is to ask "what binoculars are recommended for $300". I will be using them primarily to hunt and will be on safari in Africa later this summer.
The Monarchs probably can hold their own under ideal conditions. Unfortuneately, hunting is rarely under ideal conditions. If you must stay at the $300 level, I would take a hard look at the Bushnell Legends. I would urge you to try to add to your budget and get a higher quality bino for your trip. It is not that big of a deal if your optics crap out on you on your yearly deer hunting trip. But, do you really want to rsk that on a trip to Africa? Just remember, all optics look good in the store.
