Hunting needs...

I have a pair of Leupold 10x28 Gold Ring Roofs and am wondering what I will gain, if anything, by purchasing Bushnell Legend's in 8x42. I assume the Legend's will be better at dusk and dawn, but will the quality be similar to the Leupold's?

I am assuming that you have the old GRs. Yes you will see a significant upgrade in quality with the Bushnells. The Bushnells take advantage of technology that was not available when the old GRs were produced. Also, 10X is a bit much for a compact bino. I think the Bushnells would be money well spent. YOu might want to consider the 10X42s.

Thanks, ranburr. Most of my hunting is in the midwest in timber. Is there an advantage to the 10x versus the 8X? Also, the reason I selected the Legend is because I found your other posts re the Monarch and Leupold Wind Rivers. I used to be impressed with Leupold products from years back and did not have prior experience with Wind Rivers. I was surprised to find out the quality is not what I expected.

Thanks again.

If you are in thick timber than the 8Xs are fine. I personally like the extra magnification of a 10X in a full size bino. To me the 10X is an ideal all around magnification. Leupold does not actually make the Wind River Products. It is a simple case of brand labeling.
