Steiner predator 10x42

Postby Guest on Fri Jun 17, 2005 9:57 pm

I was looking at a pair of Steiner predator 10x42 vs Swaro's el 10x42. The condition was dusk and while the Swaro's were obviously better, they were also twice the price and the Steiner's were not exactly slouches. As much as I would like to have the Swaro's, they are just out of my budget. I could possible stretch to get the Predators. Can anyone tell me about these binoc's? I'm not familar with them.

Thanks in Advance,

The predators are a good mid-range roof bino. If you want them strictly for hunting thay are a good choice. If you are into birding, astronomy, etc. you will not like them. The glass has a specialty coating that is designed to bring out typical animal colors, browns, grays, reds, etc. They do work as advertised, deer and other game will stand out from the shadows and under brush with these binos. They are not good at true color resoltion and the clarity is not as sharp as higher-end binos. Hence why birders and the like do not care for them. As far as ruggdness goes, Steiner is known for their toughness under the harshest of conditions. If you like these binos and understand what they are for (hunting) they are a good choice for the money. Similar priced binos that I personally prefer can be had from Kahles, Minox, and Docter.
