Steven L - Leapers Scopes

Steve and others -

I am curious about these Leapers illuminated reticle scopes. They seem quite enticing for the price. Are you familiar with the quality of these scopes? Would you recommend them for an AR shooter on a budget? Or do you know of a different brand that makes affordable 3-12x or so illuminated reticle scopes?

If you read my posts, you'll know I appreciate top quality scopes. I can't always justify them for my applications, though. I have a lot of lower and medium priced scopes on guns that I target shoot with or just plink. My very best stuff generally goes on equipment that might get shaken around in a pickup or dropped or bounced while climbing.

It sounds like your AR is for fun and not very hard use, and the Leapers scopes perform as advertised. You can't expect the best quality glass and tracking, but they are certainly serviceable, and they have quite a following with the spring piston airgun crowd, which says a lot. Airguns destroy scopes, but the appropriate Leapers products hold up well. Chinese manufacturing gets better every year, and by the latest crop of Leapers offerings, this is the case with them, as well.

For a target gun that your horse isn't going to step on during an elk hunt I must say that you get your money's worth in a pretty good way with Leapers, and I'm not ashamed to say it, provided the application is appropriate. It sounds like yours may be perfect. Hope that helps.
