red dot sight for 22 rifle

i want to put a red dot sight on my ruger 10/22 rifle or also looking at buying a youth 22 like the cz scout or savage cub to teach my kids to shoot. can you make a recommendation on something that will last but cost less than the rifle? thanks.

The standard Bushnell Trophy red dot will work well on your gun for plinking. You'll never have groups as small as you can get with a magnified scope because the dot covers so much of your target, but for ease of shooting and quickness, a red dot is great.
