Millett SP-1 help

Postby aerohund on Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:28 am

The good news.. my new Millett SP-1 showed up UPS within 24hrs on free shipping - its good to be close (ST.Louis), nice job with the quick packing too.

The bad news.. the dot looks like its squinting thru a rock chip in a windshield, its far from round and its all "starred" out and messy.
It gets better outside turned down, but its pretty lousy for an indoor range at any visible setting.
So otherwise I like the scope (size, fit, great for my Buck Mark) and I'd take another one if you guys have one that actually has a nice round, red, dot.

Option 2
Should I exchange the Millett for a Tasco PDP3 - I understand those are generally problem free and have a nice round dot?

Option 3
You tell me what 1" (25mm) scope to buy based on fewest returns, quality, good bang-for-the-buck?
I'm saying 1" because I also bought Leupold quick release rings, but I guess I could swap them out for 30mm if a great option is there.

Option 4
I'm open to the possiblity of switching styles to a Holo sight if they are accurate/precise enough.
What would be the best way to go there? ($100-150)
I found one that people seem to like... http://www.opticsplanet.com/yukon-sight ... 13005.html

Thank you much!

You will not get a round red dot on any red dot sight. Period. They just don't work that way. Turn down the intensity for less bleeding. It has to do with your individual eyes. Look at the dot with one eye, then the other. It looks different. The dots do not look the same through everyone's eyes. Again, there are no perfectly round red dots. And I mean from entry level to Aimpoints, EOTechs, and Trijicons red dots. If you want something sharp, you'll have to get a scope with an illuminated reticle.
