Busnell Zoom Dot sight: How good? Brightness adjustible?

Postby HighlanderNorth1 on Sat Dec 03, 2011 11:27 am

I am looking into red dot sights for a rifle, and I've narrowed the search down to a few sights: The Vortex Strikefire, The Bushnell Zoom Dot, The Bushnell TRS-25, The Burris Speed Dot XTS-135.

The prices of these 4 sights vary quite a bit from like $80 - $250. The one thing I like about the Bushnell Zoom dot is the ability to adjust the dot size from 1 moa to 10 moa. Thats great! But I've looked around here and elsewhere for detailed info and specs on the Zoom Dot, but the info is sparse. Nobody even mentions whether the dot brightness is adjustable, or whether it's automatically adjusted, or if it's even lit up at all!

Also, apparently it is very new, so there are very few reviews from anyone who has owned and used it for awhile. I know that Bushnell is a good name that's been around for a long time.

So, does anyone know anything about it?

The Zoom Dot will have an automatic brightness control. The ability to adjust the dot size is a nice feature, but the auto brightness is a pretty big drawback in my opinion. However, some people like the idea of not having to worry about making constant adjustments. Of those sights I would recommend the Vortex Stirkefire.

I would also recommend taking a look at the Vortex SPARC. This unit will come with a number of riser that will help you achieve and optimum height and a 2x magnifier.
