Correct Mounts

Postby WingMaster on Sat May 19, 2012 9:16 pm

I'm new to the useage of red dot scopes. All of my past has been with telescopic scopes. I am doing research for the purchase a couple of the new red dot sighting sytems. One for pistol and one for a shotgun. I have been looking at the Burris FastFire III and the J Point sights. Does anyone have an opinion between the two sights. Second question is which mounts to use. Most of my guns have Weaver/Picatinny rails. Some of my research seem to like the Burris scopes, but not the mounts. Can I use JP's mounts, and if so what other sight can they mount (ie CMore, Trijicon RMR, etc)

I would go with the new Fastfire III. It is a great quality MRD that doesn't break the bank. The FF sights use the Docter platform so they are compatible with any Docter base as well as all the Fastfire bases. Both the FF II and FF III fit on all the FF bases. The new FF III has multiple brightness settings as well as an auto setting and includes a removable shade for when shooting in bright light. The FF III features a top battery compartment so you DO NOT need to remove the sight to change the batter, which is a HUGE plus.

Thanks for the info. Just ordered 2 of the FastFire III sights form OP. Only problem is that Burris does not offer a mount for a S&W rev, and seems that OP does not offer the JP adapter for the Doctor sights. Also ordered form OP a JP's mount for the S&W rev, shall have to order adpater direct from JP. Would have been nice to "One Stop Shop" with OP, however not a big deal, great doing business with you!
