EOTech holographic mounts for M4/M16/AR15

I'm adding an eotech holo on a Colt AR-15, carbine model and I get conflicting info locally as to carry handle mount vs handguard. My hunting experience reflects scope as close as possible to barrel equals better accuracy and less chance for knocking scope out of zero and damage. There is a gaggle of mounts out there, what is most reliable technique and brand name? Thanks, JJ
