If I sight a red dot sight on a shotgun in at 100 Yds (0") using slugs, will the dot on the sight be (for practical purposes) in the center of the shot pattern when using birdshot? For instance, with an improved cylinder choke and #6 shot, will the dot be basically centered in the pattern out to 30-35 yds?
Thanks,
Van

Hi,
This depends on the loads used. A slug will drop at a different rate than bird shot will. It may be close, but you'd be better off taking the shotgun to the range and shooting it to find out. Aim for the center of a large target at different distances and see at what distances the red dot is still accurate. This will change from one load to the next as well as from one slug to the next.
