EOTech vs Bushnell

First, a general question about the holographic weapon sights...does the front sight of the rifle (e.g. ar-15) interfere with the sight?

What are the differences between the Bushnell 52-0021 and the EOTech 510 (512-A65)? They both seem very similar. Is the EOTech more rugged? Do these two models share the same components.

Yes, the Bushnell and the EOTech share many of the same basic components since the Bushnell is actually made by EOTech. There are differences, however, between the basic Bushnell (EOTech 502) and the 510 series.

The 510 series, http://www.opticsplanet.net/eotech-holo ... t-510.html which includes the 511 (N battery version) and the 512 (AA battery version) is the combat model of the EOTech. It has an extra metal shield arounfd the body for protection. It also has better sealing of the switch mechanism. We've sold hundreds of these to our people in Irag and Afghanistan and it has become the sight of choice for our troops. You simply cannot buy a more rugged holo/red dot/reflex sight than this one.

When mounted on an M16 with the 9-BC-CAM, http://www.opticsplanet.net/eotech-holo ... -ar15.html you can access either the iron sights or the holo sight. When mounted on a sporting weapon, the front sight will not interefere with the functioning of the holo.

You guys are funny, the EOTech is the Bushnell with an aluminum cover as to add another name, if you go to the EOTech sight you see that there one and the same and that EOTech has links to Bushnell all over it.

No, the EOTech is the combat version of the cheap Bushnell site. EOTech makes the Hologram for Bushnell. If you want your site to last more than a year, go with the EOTech.

i've had my bushnell holosight for about two years. no problems. I even purchased it refurbished.

in comparison to a friends EOTech, the EOTech reticle appears more crisp/well defined. the bushnell is slightly less coherent. out to 100 yards you won't have a problem hitting a human sized head with either.

I just purchased the EOTech 512, plan on putting it on a CX4Storm (.40 cal). Only concern that I have is that the reticle doesn’t seem as sharp as I thought it would. In fact when I first turned it on it looked very blurry, then I removed my reading glasses and that took care of the blur. When I look closely at the ring it looks like thousands of tiny led lights, rather than a crisp red ring. This is the first time I’ve looked at a HWS so I’m hoping that the reticle is normal. Does anyone else notice the reticle on their EOTech HWS not being perfectly crisp??

The reticle is normal and will not be crisp. No red dot sight of any kind will have a perfectly distinct reticle. This also changes from person to person and eye to eye. Look through your left eye and then the right. The view changes. There is also no difference between the EOTech reticle and the HOLOsight. Same people, same manufacturing. Slight differences between individual units only.

I figured it had more to do with my weary old eyes. I had originally purchased this sight to put on an M4 rifle, but have since decided to get something w/ magnification for it.

No. Unfortunately, the Bushnell HOLOsight has been discontinued. We have the remainders.
