I'm looking into buying a telescope and am trying to weigh whether I want a big better telescope on a dobsonian mount or an obviousley smaller one with a setup for taking pictures. The main question I have is taking pictures with an amateur telescope worth it? like an 8-12 inch reflector. Or should I spend my money on getting a telescope that has more power for my eye to see that cant take pictures?
I can't decide that for you, but I can tell you that you should not attempt astrophotography until you are completely familiar with telescope usage and astronomy in general. Also, astrophotography is not beginner's photography - it is an advanced form of photography, so be prepared to learn the basics of photography as well. That said, some great photos and pics are possible, especially in this day and age of digital and CCD imaging. An internet search will show you many examples of what is possible by amateur astronomers. _________________ Thanks for posting with us

with that in mind maybe I should start by getting more telescope for the buck while im learning more about astronomy..and then save for another telescope I can use to take photos with
