Help - I have spent a day trying to research any functional differences between the Nikon 500G, 800 and 1200 models and am confused. I can afford any so cost is not a consideration. With that being said can you answer the following questions:

1. Callaway vs Nikon - are there any differences or is this just a branding issue?
2. Can you help me understand why I would one model over another in simple terms? What are the Pros and Cons.
3. The 500G has been referred to as the 7431, 8351 & 8360. I have seen different pricing on the internet associated with each. What are this differences.

My only use is golf and distance to the flag. My two thoughts are to just buy the 1200 cause that's top of the line or buy the 500G cause that's the smallest and comes with good reviews.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi,

I do not sell the Calloway rangefinder so I really connot compare it accurately, but as far as I know it's mostly branding. There may be some additional features on the Calloway that I am not aware of. The differences in the model numbers in the Nikon lineup cane be very subtle. If nikon changes the packaging on an item and does not change the item at all, it still gets a new model number. Essentially, they will do the same thing well.

The 500G is super compact and lightweight, and will do everything you need it to do for Golf, except for slope calculations. None of the Nikon models will calculate and compensate for slope.

The Nikon Laser 800 and 1200 are hunting rangefinders that can be used for golf. You just need to make sure they are set in "Near target" mode. The Laser 1200 has very dark optics and has been very disappointing, so I would reccomend the 800 over the 1200.

I would still stick with the 500G for its compact size and ease of use.
