Heatseeker Binoculars

Postby joncsi on Thu Jun 29, 2006 9:39 am

Hello. I’m wondering if you can help me. My name is Jon and I work for the television show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with our show. If not, it centers around a team of criminalists in Las Vegas.

The reason I’m contacting you today is to get some help to a device related question that we have.

We’re wondering if you’re familiar with any high powered binoculars that can see heat sources underground in the desert. The purpose of these binoculars would be to find a person buried alive. Would any of the products you sell be able to do this?

Thank you for any advice you can give us.

Thermal imagers have been used by Search and rescue teams to see through building walls, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to claim such a device could be used to see into a certain depth of soil. The greater the depth, the greater the insulation, of course, so there are limits.

The heat-seeking device I am referring to is something such as the ATN Thermal-Eye 250 D Digital Camera.
