In a previous post you recommended the Kowa TSN-600 series as superior to the Bushnell Elite 20-60x80 ED.

1) So you are saying that the 60 mm Kowa is superior to the 80 mm Bushnell?

2) Also you don't specify the Kowa model (with ED or without?). This Kowa without Ed is similarly priced to this Bushnell.

Please clarify.

Hi

I was refering to the ED version and my opinion is based on actual tests on optical resolution charts. I attribute the performance of the Kowa to its excellent zoom, 20-60x, Z9B eyepiece, which is definitely a better eyepiece than the zoom supplied on the Bushnell. After all, the eyepiece is half of the optical system on any telescope or spotting scope. Also, I would not rate the standard version of the Kowa to be that far behind. The standard version of the Kowa 601, when equipped with the same eyepiece, scored higher than any standard glass 60mm scope I have yet tested. Excellent scopes and more expensive than the Bushnell 20-60x80, yes, but there is a reason for it.

Thanks for your reply So if I am to choose between the Bushnell Elite 20-60x80 ED and the standard (not ED) Kowa TSN-600 series with Z9B: Which has better optics and which is more rugged? (I realize the Kowa is more portable and a bit more expensive) Also please inform country of origin and links to full warranty info for each. Thanks.
