My wife just bought me a new Nikon Prostaff 16-48x65 Straight Spotting Scope (Realtree). Its a definate upgrade from my cheap Bushnell but I'm wondering whether I should upgrade farther and make it my last spotting scope, I'd always had my heart set on a Swarovski or Zeiss.
I use my scope mostly to view ducks and deer out of our living room, the pond is about 300 yards across, I want to be able to 'pull in' and identify the ducks and other birds.
Will I be happy with this scope or should I add another 5-600 dollars and get a nicer scope? |

Hi
Getting a higer grade scope will give you acees to slightly more magnifcation, typically up to 60x, but that is not enough to be significant for your application. Going ot a premium grade scope with slightly higher magnification might be worth it, say for smaller groups, such as shorebirds, at extreme distances, but the Prostaff will do just fine for waterfowl. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
